Lewis Black on Broadway talking about how America ISN’T #1

This is the truest thing Lewis Black has ever said…. which is why it’s so damn funny.

A large calibre gun in the hands of a small calibre brain is scary.

Terrible argument on why a person shouldn’t own a gun. If you will excuse me, I think I will go skeet shooting, or maybe trap shooting… maybe I’ll pick up a few slugs or buckshot and go hunting, or maybe shoot quail. No, now that I think of it, I think I’ll just go around scaring people like you while open carrying on the street. That should be loads of fun.

Gun owners do not always intend to kill. I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt but damn, that’s stupid.
I own a pump action 12 gauge shotgun and I pray that I will never have to use it. But if the time comes that I must, I pray I will have 3 shells loaded.
Maybe you will understand when it happens to you.
A gun is just a tool, like a crowbar, a kitchen knife, nitroglycerin, a razor, a car, etc… They can all be used to kill people, it’s the person behind the tool that kills them.

Of course it’s not cool to joke about but that’s what your kind of thinking brings about. Who the hell to you intend to kill?

That’s not cool to joke about. Watch Ice T explain it for you. Someone could have just as easily strapped explosives to themselves and killed just as many and more. Guns are our “last line of defense against tyranny”, and I am damn glad I can protect myself if that day comes.

I’m glad you caught that last bit, I didn’t have enough characters to finish. I was going to say, “higher than most countries” We are ranked as of 2011, 4th on a global scale for human development.
My original argument is that the US is greater than the EU. Now if the EU was greater they would have much more than just 2 of their countries ahead of us. (I don’t think Australia counts as EU, I know the UK colonized it way back when but they are different now right?)

Go to the nearest movie theatre and shoot the crowd and you’ll feel better.

I almost agree with you on some points, well said, but friend, that’s just the way our imperfect world works, life is not fair. Our country is too big for lawyers to monitor every single precedent made by it’s court system. We like to say we are the best country just as every other country thinks they are better. The only reason it’s a problem with USA is that we actually are the best and it is arrogant to say you are the best when you know it. I agree here we are not being good sports.

I’m the idiot? I’m not going to waste my time pointing out where you are wrong when ever so clearly, you can’t empathize with a victim of a break in situation.

I never said ours is the highest. We do have a very high standard though. As of 2011 we are the 4th highest in human development, which is very closely related to standard of living. No body in America expects “free” healthcare (I don’t think), we pay a low percentage in taxes and look where we rank, at the top. America has a great system going for it. It needs work but it is great.

Incorrect, America does not have the Highest Standard of living in the World. Nor does my Country (Canada). Norway, Germany, and Holland have some of the highest standards of living in the World (I’m sure I’m missing out a few others as well) because they all Pay High Taxes for Healthcare, Health Insurance, and a good quality of living when they get old. America could have a good quality of living for all but Americans don’t want to pay taxes. They want it for Free and that won’t ever happen.

At least they use the taxes for a very reasonable purpose. It´s pretty much one of the smartest things to use the taxes for in a time we don´t have to face massive wars.
